Praised Perot Book Pumped Into Dallas Library’s General Circulation
Good news for Ross Perot aficionados! After several complaints that the first Perot biography in 25 years was tucked away in a “reference only” collection at the Dallas Public Library, more copies are being released into general circulation.
Several people wrote to the book’s award-winning author Dave Lieber, The Watchdog columnist at The Dallas Morning News, that the book was not available for takeout. Some said they complained to library leaders.
Now the library acquisition director says, “I would definitely put one in the 8th floor collection and also one in Renner or Fretz [library branches]. I will be happy to add them.”
Dave Lieber celebrated news that the book will be freely available in Perot’s home city.
Lieber said, “It’s been a little more than 30 years since Perot Mania took the nation by storm when Ross Sr. ran as a third-party candidate for president. That’s just one of dozens of amazing stories in SEARCHING FOR PEROT: My Journey to Discover Texas’ Top Family. These wonderful stories deserve their freedom from ‘reference only.’”
The book was also the basis of a hit play – PEROT! American Patriot – that had its world premiere in 2022. Lieber wrote that, too.
Judges for the Ben Franklin book awards liked the book. One judge said, “The book is very polished overall. Interior is beautiful, with very attractive and vibrant chapter head illustrations. Overall, a beautiful book!”
