The story of Mr. Dallas joins Mr. Fort Worth in Dave Lieber’s retelling

Call Dave Lieber the official biographer of two great men of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

His book and hit play about Amon “Mr. Fort Worth” Carter is now joined by his new biography of Ross Perot Sr., aka “Mr. Dallas.”

Although they never met one another, both men had a lot in common. Amon Carter died in 1955, and Ross and Margot Perot didn’t move to Dallas until 1957.

Both men came from nothing and developed massive fortunes through pluck and luck.

Both men were small town boys who thrived in the big city.

Neither man had a college education.

Both men had sons who followed in their footsteps – Amon Carter Jr. and Ross Perot Jr.

Both men had bright daughters.

Both men were deeply involved in politics, business, service and charities. Both had foundations that give away millions of dollars every year.

Both were extraordinary marketers.

Both were the driving force behind museums – the Amon Carter Museum of American Art and the Perot Museum of Nature and Science.

And perhaps most important, both men had a love for Texas that was and is second to none.
